Rosemattel's has two locations for 2009! One is located at 10311 NE 72nd Avenue, in Vancouver. The other is in Felida, at the corner of Seward and 41st. Each farm has a different pick up time and day. Our subscriptions are measured as the following, with the graces of temperatures and seasons in mind that very much dictates how things come about as we grow outdoors: We strive to offer at least 6 serving of vegetables and fruits for two people - this is an estimated amount of produce that adds up to around $15 in the Spring, $30 in the summer, and $25 in the early Fall, and then tapers depending on how long the growing climate is in our favor. If you eat a lot of raw veggies, your food dollar is stretched even more. It is challenging to speculate ahead of time exactly how much the produce is valued week by week nor season by season. Fresh herbs are included in each harvest, when available. In addition to our farm eggs and handmade soaps that are in our mini farm
store area we supply our customers with very local pickles, jams, honey and honey products, sauces, marinades, breads (upon order), and will do our best to refer to other farms that have other items to offer in the area. Just ask!The farmerette's name is Brenda and has 16 years of growing experience. I was a very tiny a retail herb and plant nursery for the previous four years and decided to let that go for the CSA farming expansion. I also founded the Battle Ground Farmers Market 5 years ago and in 2008 managed to chaneg the business structure to an official non-profit organization called Friends of the Battle Ground Farmers Market Association.
I have years and years and years of retail, sales, marketing, supervisory and management experience and have found these skills one of the key elements to the bigger picture of CSA farming. I am a member of the Clark/Cowlitz Farm Bureau, Barberton Grange, Clark County Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Washington CSA Farms, Clark College Ag/Hort Committee. I am a Certified Agriculture Technician with Clark County as well.
Two Open Houses are held a year at the 72nd Avenue Farm. With cooking demos, farm walks, growing explainations and advice, wine tasting, plant sale, kiddie area and more, you get to see how we do things on our farm. Check website for details or ask to be on our mailing list.
